Why life and dead share the same roots

The asphodel is a kind of herbaceous plant which grows in the south and center of Europe. I decided to write about it becaue it's my favourite plant. Why? Well, on one hand, it's the effigy of life in my opinion: the bottom part is the first one to bloom, while the top part is still creating the buds. They bloom step by step, when the bottom part blooms the upper part is not even there, and when the top part blooms the bottom part is already withered. Life's the same: everything is born and dies after a certain time, and when the first one's are alive, the one's which come after do not even exist. It's like different ages and phases of life, it's impossible for the top and bottom ones to be alive at the same time and meet on the way.
On the other hand, it represents death to. In greek mythology it was the plant which was supposed to grow in the underworld where dead people rested. They also used to bring asphodels to funerals and graves because they thought they would ease the way to the Hades.
These are the reasons why I love this flower: it represents life with it's different stages and the end of it, and at the same time it's simply stunning.
